As work continues on the restoration and redevelopment of Perth Theatre; theatre lovers are being invited to show their support for the once-in-a lifetime transformation by joining the #PlayingMyPart campaign.
Horsecross Arts, the creative organisation behind Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre is calling out to actors, audiences, past staff members and community participants to help raise the profile of the £16.6m project and join the final push to raise the remaining £1.5m to fully kit out the new theatre when it reopens in autumn 2017.
The #PlayingMyPart campaign centres on a large-scale Transform Perth Theatre display in sister venue Perth Concert Hall’s Threshold artspace. A captivating part of the display is a screen featuring video clips, with images from those who have connected with the theatre over the years including project ambassador Ewan McGregor.
Anyone can get involved by popping in to Perth Concert Hall and taking a picture of themselves with the #PlayingMyPart sign and posting on social media using the hashtags #TransformPerthTheatre and #PlayingMyPart. Their image could then be used as part of the Transform Perth Theatre display or even on the 22-screen Threshold Wave in Perth Concert Hall’s Threshold artspace!
Those with special memories to share can join actors including Colin McCredie, Barrie Hunter and Tom McGovern, staff members and other theatre lovers and record a short video clip under the theme of Your Theatre, Your Heritage, Your Future.
Louisa Evans, head of development for Horsecross Arts, who is leading the fundraising campaign said:
“Perth Theatre holds such a cherished place in the hearts of so many that it is important to capture as much of this as we can. By including photos and videos of actors, audience members, former staff, community participants and other theatre lovers in our Transform Perth Theatre – ‘Your Theatre, Your Heritage, Your Future’ – Display, they become active participants in our campaign. Not only does this create a dynamic and compelling fundraising message, but it acknowledges the role that Perth Theatre has played over the last 116 years and the impact the transformed theatre will have on generations to come.”
