Horsecross Arts’ community activities have been recognised in Perthshire’s most prestigious business awards.

The creative organisation behind Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre has been shortlisted for the Commitment to the Community Award in the annual Perth Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awards. 

Horsecross Arts’ extensive community, education and outreach programme is at the heart of the organisation which delivers a diverse series of Join In activities to more than 20,000 individuals living across Perthshire. As well as activities for young people including Little Stars: Creative Play, Perth Youth Theatre  and  Perth Autism Youth Theatre, Glè  Gaelic youth choir, Gordon Duncan Experience traditional music band, Youth Dance and Young Choreographers, Horsecross Arts runs adult groups Horsecross Voices, Blow and Blast, woodwind group and Trad from Scratch, Scottish traditional music-making workshops. The organisation also offers a range of training and career development opportunities.

Commenting on the shortlisting, head of creative learning at Horsecross Arts, Noëlle Cobden said:

“We are delighted to be shortlisted in the prestigious Star Awards for our work in communities. Our Creative Learning programme sits at the heart of everything we do at Horsecross so it is fantastic that the work we do has been recognised by the awards panel. Over the last 10 years we have worked with a range of partners to develop and deliver creative arts programmes to people of all ages and abilities across the region; work that we believe is vital to building a thriving community. It is our ambition for the next 10 years that every person in Perth and Kinross can access high quality creative arts activities making the region the best place to grow up and live in, in Scotland. We look forward with excitement to the next stage in the process.”

The Horsecross Arts team is now preparing for a visit from the Star Awards judges when they will reinforce their entry with a presentation and interviews. Winners will be announced at a sparkling ceremony at Crieff Hydro on Friday 20 November.
