A brand new song writing project for primary schools.
Between September 2021 and March 2022 we will be working with three primary schools and three care homes on The Harmony Project.
School pupils and care homes residents will embark on a series of creative workshops together, exploring friendship, memories, passions, and the things they have in common. Pupils will take everything they have learnt from these conversations back to school and work with a Musician to collectively write a song for the care home residents they met. The song will then be performed on our mobile pop-up Gig on a Truck stage at the care home.
All sessions will be led by a professional Musician and a Drama Facilitator, who will support pupils to develop and share their own creative ideas.
After a challenging year we want to support school pupils and care home residents to connect with their wider community in a fun, supportive and creative environment.
We’ll pair each school with a local care home to work on the project. This might be a care home the school already has a connection with, or it could be a brand new partnership.
Pupils will take part in a total of 10 sessions:
1 x introductory workshop
3 x workshops with care home residents
5 x workshops exploring composition and song-writing, including rehearsing the final piece
1 x performance
We can accommodate a maximum of 33 pupils from one school. The project is open to classes P1-P7, and workshop delivery will be adapted to suit the ages of those participating.
If you are interested in your school participating in The Harmony Project, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to express your interest by Friday 18 June.
This project will be delivered in line with Covid-19 guidelines. We hope to be able to deliver all work face-to-face but may have to adapt should more stringent guidelines come into force.
