Take One Action
Chair, Lisa Stewart, and Perth Film Society co-host a discussion followed by 100 minutes of short films celebrating women’s empowerment in all its guises, curated by Take One Action
, the UK’s leading global change film festival.
Tales of Sisterhood
Take One Action Film Festival at WOW What Now? Perth
Take One Action
nurtures communal exploration of the stories, ideas and questions at the heart of positive social change. Through film screenings, conversation and enquiry, we bring people together to inspire a fairer, more sustainable and more fulfilling world, in Scotland and beyond our borders.
Take One Action’s
focus on social and environmental justice recognises the importance of showcasing women’s voices both on and off screen: in line with our commitment to gender parity, inclusion and diversity, 50% of the films we screen at our annual festivals are directed by women. During WOW What Now? Perth
we will be presenting a selection of short films from our Sisters
strand, which celebrates female empowerment in all its guises.
Join us on a journey of discovery from Jordan to Canada, from Syria to the Highlands. Delve into inspiring stories of women finding their voice as creatives, activists and passionate advocates for inclusive, positive change. Embrace new perspectives and insights, from an intimate documentary essay by a 17-year-old who captures the look, feel and sounds of her life in Jordan’s Za'atari Refugee Camp (Another Kind of Girl
) to the beguiling stop-motion animation No Place Like Home
, which follows a defiantly self-reliant woman in the Scottish Highlands.
