Influenced by artists such as Gram Parsons, Jayhawks, Uncle Tupelo and The Band, Perth’s own New Madrids play a great mix of country, rock and soul, which is given a harder edge by Ian Hutchison’s raw vocals. American roots are at the heart of The New Madrids' sound with a powerhouse rhythm section of Maurice McPherson on drums, Callum Keith on bass backing the incomparable Owen Nicholson on any variety of stringed instruments with Ian Hutchison and Donny McElligott sharing lead vocal duties as well as songwriting duties.
