Rossini Thieving Magpie Overture
Suppé Light Cavalry Overture
Grieg Peer Gynt Suite No.1
Mozart Symphony No. 40
Kenneth Platt Restoration Dances
The pandemic has brought chaotic times for musicians and audiences alike. It therefore seems fitting that Perth Symphony Orchestra celebrates its return to the concert hall with an eclectic mixture of music. This includes not one, but two, raucous and thrilling overtures - Rossini's Thieving Magpie Overture and Suppé's Light Cavalry Overture. In complete contrast is the other-worldly atmosphere of Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No.1. The ever-popular Mozart's 40th Symphony (G minor) hints at a return to established order, while Kenneth Platt’s Restoration Dances will, hopefully, do just that.
