Niteworks are Innes Strachan (keys), Allan MacDonald (pipes), Christopher Nicolson (bass) and Ruairidh Graham (drums). Childhood friends from the Isle of Skye, they blur the lines between traditional and Gaelic music with contemporary electronica, creating a unique and exhilarating sound. Live, Niteworks come into their own with their spellbinding audio/visual show.
The band have released two albums, NW and Air Fàir an Là, to great critical acclaim and 2022 sees the band release A’ Ghrian, featuring collaborations with Ellen MacDonald, Kathleen MacInnes, Beth Malcolm, Hannah Rarity, Sian and Alasdair Whyte.
The band is also much sought after for music commissions for high profile national events. In 2018 they created a bespoke score for Edinburgh's Hogmanay fireworks display, then produced the music for Castle of Light, a six-week event for 80000 visitors installed at Edinburgh Castle. In 2020, the band created a soundtrack for Edinburgh Hogmanay's Fare Well video project featuring a spectacular drone display set to words by Jackie Kay, attracting over six million views.
