Haydn String Quartet in G minor Op 74 No 3 ‘Rider’
Beethoven String Quartet in E flat major Op 74 ‘Harp’

The brilliant young Maxwell String Quartet have won international prizes for their performances. They perform two masterpieces of the string quartet repertoire. Haydn’s Rider Quartet, one of his latest and most mature works, is so called because of the galloping feel of the last movement. Beethoven’s Harp Quartet is so called because of the frequent pizzicato string plucking effects used.
