For the first time in a public gallery setting see a selection of Marlene Millar’s artist’s films spanning 30 years of her creative practice. Traverse Marlene’s cinematic world with those constantly on the move who star in her documentaries, essays and installations as in Pilgrimage– the poetically acclaimed short dance film in our museum collection. Navigate the unchartered terrain of lost memory and dementia through Fallen– Horsecross Arts new commission and museum acquisition.
Curated by Iliyana Nedkova. Produced by Horsecross Arts, the artist and curator for Threshold artspace. In partnership with Danns-Ed, University of Edinburgh, Perth Film Society, Craigie Choir, Goat Media, Traditional Dance Forum of Scotland. VENUES: Threshold artspace, Perth Concert Hall and off-site across Scotland Hosted by Iliyana Nedkova, Marlene undertook an artist’s residency at Threshold artspace while connecting with fellow artists and audiences across Perth and Scotland. The residency largely informed the exhibition preview, the new Horsecross Arts commission and the survey exhibition at the artspace.
Marlene was joined by her long-term Canadian collaborator Philip Szporer and delivered an artist’s talk about the award-winning dance films produced by their creative company Mouvement Perpetuel as part of the 2019 edition of Screen.Dance – Scotland’s festival of dance on screen held at Threshold artspace and Joan Knight Studio, Perth Theatre. Watch a selection of Marlene’s Migration series of dance films – which also feature in her first solo exhibition at Threshold artspace – for one night only on the big screen as part of Edinburgh’s mini-festival of percussive dance. Followed by a post-show Q&A with Marlene, Iliyana and special guests Sandy Silva and Nic Gareiss.

See a selection of works by the multi-award-winning Canadian artist Marlene Millar on the big screen for one day only hosted by Iliyana Nedkova of Horsecross Arts.
