Ariel Lanyi won third prize at the Leeds Piano Competition in September 2021 setting him him on a path to international stardom. He opens with Schumann’s charming ‘scenes from childhood’ which includes his famous Träumerei. Beethoven’s Hammerklavier Sonata is one of his finest works and one of the greatest piano sonatas of all time. It is also one of the most demanding solo works in the classical piano repertoire and carries huge emotional weight.
