Following Government announcements on Saturday 19 December about increased COVID-19 restrictions, in particular a ban in travel between Scotland and the rest of the UK, we’ve taken the difficult decision to cancel Dunedin Consort’s performance of Handel’s Messiah in Perth Concert Hall which was to be streamed as live on Wednesday 23 December.
Whilst there are exemptions for those travelling for professional reasons, we don’t think that it is sensible, or fair, to ask musicians to travel to our venue from London and other parts of the UK to perform when many families will not be able to get together over Christmas. This decision has been made to protect the health of staff and artists and play our part in reducing the spread of the virus.
All ticket holders will be contacted this week with refund information and other options.
We’re extremely disappointed to have to cancel what was going to be a beautiful and uplifting performance of the Christmas masterpiece in our glittering hall. We’ll continue to work closely with our friends at Dunedin Consort and all of our musical contacts to programme as much as we possibly can in whatever way we can to keep bringing music to our audiences during these difficult times.
