In celebration of some of cinema’s most memorable musical moments and drawing on music from their acclaimed disc of film score arrangements, ‘Final Cut’, the highly acclaimed Aquarelle Guitar Quartet makes a welcome return to Perth Festival of the Arts.
Renowned for its imaginative repertoire, spanning a wide range of styles, periods and cultures, the ensemble presents an evening of music featuring many of its most popular pieces, with an eclectic mix from the group’s highly praised Chandos CDs.
Highlights include Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence
by Japanese composer Rhyuichi Sakamoto (written as the theme for the film starring David Bowie), award-winning music from films such as Frida
, The Motorcycle Diaries
and their acclaimed arrangement of Catriona McKay’s The Swan LK243
(a beautiful, lilting folk song from Scotland). Rimsky-Korsakov’s familiar and exciting Capriccio Espagnol
also makes an appearance, as does the electrically fast paced Tarantella
