Silence and Song: Free Workshop and Performance Project for women.
Women of Perth and Kinross and the surrounding areas are being invited to join Perth Theatre and the National Theatre of Scotland for a day of free theatre, song and costume workshops, leading to the creation a piece of street performance as part of Silence and Song.
Silence and Song is a project inspired by the National Theatre of Scotland, Perth Theatre and Stellar Quines’ forthcoming production The 306: Day, in association with Red Note Ensemble and part of 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary. The 306: Day is the second part of a powerful trilogy which follows the lives of ordinary women fighting to be heard above the clamour of World War One.
The performance will take inspiration from women’s protest and the show itself to create a piece of street theatre that will be performed outside the venue on the opening night of The 306: Day.
This will be a thought-provoking, inspiring and creative experience which will open up the central themes of the play and allow participants the opportunity to discover more about the way the National Theatre of Scotland works.
The workshop takes place in Perth Concert Hall (Tilt room) on Saturday 22 April from 10am – 4pm. The performance will be on Saturday 6 May from 4pm – 8pm.
