Curator Laura Leuzzi has received Creative Scotland funding to co-curate with Iliyana Nedkova, the first solo exhibition and only UK showing of performative project Virtual Walls | Real Walls by the Dutch video art pioneer Madelon Hooykaas - showcasing her latest moving image works at Perth’s Threshold artspace. The project is an investigation into the cultural perceptions of walls as barriers and symbols of both confinement and unification.

Part of Madelon Hooykaas’ exclusive solo exhibition which continues until Thu 26 Jul Virtual Walls | Real Walls takes place on Monday 14 May at 6pm in the Threshold artspace, Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall.

The free showing investigates what are our cultural perceptions of walls –marking a territory, taming nature, separating and protecting people? Madelon Hooykaas performs her ‘civic acupuncture’ live in an attempt to cure and protect cities and stimulate regeneration. Perth is the only UK performance destination following Venice, Amsterdam and Berlin. Hooykaas’ artist’s films will show in an UK institution for the first time alongside a new artist’s limited edition and a new publication. Three will be a post-show audience discussion with the artist and exhibition curators.
