Scottish Chamber Orchestra welcomes 2014 in style with New Year in Vienna, a mouth-watering mix of waltzes, polkas and marches. The critically acclaimed Perth Piano Sundays series continues with its appetising line-up of globally renowned performers and the Scottish Ensemble sets off on a Piano Promenade in venues across Perth as part of a jam-packed residency. The King’s Singersperform a wonderfully varied programme spanning 500 years of music, including the world premiere of James MacMillan’s The Rumoured Seed.

Steve Steinman returns as evil Baron Von Rockula for the 10th anniversary of Vampires Rock. Mike and The Mechanics visit on their 25th anniversary tour supported by Sadie and the Hotheads,fronted byDownton Abbey’s ‘Lady Grantham’,Elizabeth McGovern.

Ultimate Rhythm and Blues celebrate 50 years of British Rhythm and Blues with the artists that shaped music for generations to come. World-class jazz singer Kurt Elling joins the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra for an unforgettable night of music and song and Abbamania will have them dancing in the aisle with their poptastic show.

The fabulously funny Fascinating Aïda entertains with topical songs and outrageous old favourites; Alan Davies continues his celebrated return to stand up with Little Victories and Russell Kane returns with a blistering show about Britain’s obsession with all things small.

Those with a taste for Scottish traditional music will relish the combination of Ross Ainslie and Jarlath Henderson, two of the greatest talents in contemporary Celtic piping. Anyone who is tempted to play along can join Perthshire fiddler and singer Patsy Reid for a fiddle masterclass before her show and tune into or join in the regular Horsecross Trad Sessions in the intimate surrounds of Perth’s Greyfriars Bar.

Kids can have a bash on Brass and Bongos as Children’s Classic Concerts favourites Owen and Olly run a fun family workshop in advance of their exciting and interactive performance.

As the doors of Perth Theatre close for its exciting transformation, the team will be making theatre happen in pubs, village halls and community centres across the area. The Perth Theatre Out and About programme kicks off with Birnam Arts Centre hosting Rantin’, a National Theatre of Scotland production drawing on storytelling, live music and the Scottish folk tradition; and the next instalment in the highly popular A Play, A Pie and A Pint series Love with a Capital L.
