Perth Theatre’s online panto has attracted audiences and acclaim from across the globe with one fan declaring on Twitter: “Oh yes We Are from Perth Theatre is the vaccine for our souls!  It is so full of joy and poignancy and daftness and HOPE.”

Panto novices and homesick expats alike have tuned in from as far afield as France, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Canada, USA, Singapore and Australia to boo, hiss and cheer top panto dame Barrie Hunter and pals in Oh Yes We Are!, Perth Theatre’s live and interactive show.

The Stage handed over a glowing five star review of the show crediting Barrie Hunter “one of Scotland’s finest dames and canniest panto gag-writers” with a show that “in the poignancy of its quest, to return light and laughter to the ghost-lit auditorium, (has) an unmistakable and perfectly balanced emotional power that would hold its own against the finest seasonal shows of normal times”

Lu Kemp, artistic director for Perth Theatre said:

“It’s terrifically exciting to see people across the world enjoying Perth Theatre panto. It’s been a tough year for everyone, so it’s heart-warming to be able to share some Christmas joy together. The live interactive broadcast is a surprisingly intimate experience, it allows the cast to see who is watching and engage directly with them. The viewers can boo and hiss and the cast can hear them and we do the usual personalised shout outs (or 'menshies' as we call them here). We’ve had families take a virtual trip to panto together from households in different countries, we’ve had whole schools joining in from their classrooms, and we’ve had some fantastic feedback from audiences. It’s all a wonderful endorsement of all the hard work that the team has put in over the last few months to come up with this amazing show that somehow gives the feeling of being in Perth Theatre even when watched on screen. Maybe some of our new friends will make the journey to Perth to see Cinderella in 2021!”

Written by, directed by and starring Perth’s panto dame of the last ten years, Barrie Hunter, Oh Yes We Are!
