Perth Theatre’s celebrated Gig On A Truck is hitting the road again this summer with a series of free performances across Perth and Kinross.

The portable stage that brought music and amusement to thousands in schools, care homes and communities during 2020 and 2021 will present gigs by local bands and singers in community locations, at local events and in care settings during the first two weeks of August.

Horsecross Arts, the creative organisation and charity behind Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre is partnering with several charities and local organisations to deliver the performances.

All gigs are free to attend (entrance ticket required for Perth Show) with no booking required.

The tour starts on Wednesday 3 August with singer songwriter Chris Small at Riverside Stadium, North Muirton presented in partnership with Jeanfield Swifts and PKAVS. Singer songwriter Calum Campbell will perform at the Green Park Hotel, Kinross on Thursday 4 August in partnership with Broke Not Broken. Visitors to the Perth Show on the South Inch will be able to enjoy performances by Chris Small and singer/guitarist Amy Rayner on Friday 5 August and contemporary Scottish folk duo The Mad Ferret Band and young Perth country rock act Longstay on Saturday 6 August. The Mad Ferret Band return on Wednesday 10 August for a performance at Blairgowrie High School in partnership with SCYD, and Letham 4 All and We Love Letham present Longstay at Letham’s Seven Acres pitches on Saturday 13 August.

Gig On A Truck will also be setting up in car parks and gardens to entertain the residents of Duchlage Court and Richmond House in Crieff, The Grange in Balbeggie and Ochil Barchester, Charterhouse Court and Carpenter Court in Perth.

Chris Small said:

“Gig On A Truck and Horsecross provided a lifeline for musicians, engineers and crew during lockdown, as well as facilitating some much needed entertainment for local communities. It’s a privilege to continue to be involved with these events.”

Nominated for The Community Project of the Year at The Stage Awards 2021, Gig On A Truck was instrumental in Horsecross Arts being awarded the Best COVID Response and Reinvention Award at the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce Business Star Awars 2021.

‘Through Gig on a Truck, Horsecross Arts facilitated moments of connection, joy and escapism to vulnerable and isolated communities in Scotland, but also made an important acknowledgement of the truly grave and often forgotten impact of the pandemic on the care sector. The Stage
