Southern Fried Festival regular Yola will perform in Perth Theatre’s Joan Knight Studio this May.

Demand is expected to be high for the intimate gig as the Perth favourite’s reputation grows. The Perth date is part of an impressive line-up of performances from Yola this year which started with a bang on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny and continued with the release of her acclaimed debut album Walk Through Fire and much-played song Faraway Look. Many dates on her UK tour are already sold out and she will be appearing at Glastonbury, the Hollywood Bowl, Newport Folk Festival and playing shows across Europe.

Yola, who has performed at several Southern Fried Festivals, inspired young musicians at Southern Fried Rock Shops and sung with the Southern Fried Voices choir, said:

"To me, Perth is a music loving place, so that makes me so fond of the city. From the volume of high quality venues, to the dedication of everyone at Southern Fried Rock Shop and the kids I’ve worked with there and the singers of the Southern Fried Voices choir, I feel like Perth has a natural will of its own to support music at all its stages of development. I’ve had so much love and support from Perth over the years as I found my way, so I love going back to play there.”

Yola, with support from Lady Nade, is in Perth Theatre’s Joan Knight Studio on Wednesday 15 May. For tickets and info call Horsecross Arts Box Office on 01738 621031 visit www.horsecross.co.uk.
