Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre’s COVID-19 procedures have been certified by the We’re Good To Go! Industry Standard.

Operated by the National Tourist Organisations of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, We’re Good To Go! recognises organisations that have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, ensuring processes are in place to maintain cleanliness and aid physical distancing.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre have been working tirelessly to ensure that procedures are in place to protect staff and visitors in the venues.

These robust measures have allowed Perth Concert Hall to host locally based global organisation Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. as it expands its capacity to manufacture and supply COVID-19 testing collection kits. Thermo Fisher has use of the venue to train over 200 new starts in a partnership which will run until the beginning of February.

Local social enterprise Giraffe has come on board to supply lunches for the duration of the partnership.

Stewart Blair, European Director of Prepared Media Operations and Site Leader for Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. said:

“Perth Concert Hall has been a great solution for Thermo Fisher Scientific to safely onboard more than 200 new colleagues that will help our immediate efforts fighting against COVID-19 and our long-term investments to support UK-based diagnostic capabilities for the current pandemic and future clinical testing needs. The staff have been meticulous at planning for COVID safety and have ensured that our onboarding events have gone flawlessly. In addition to the Concert Hall's existing robust controls, we have added our own thermal screening on entry, and mask and sanitiser stations to ensure the safety of all. With exclusive use of the entire venue and the 1200 seat auditorium for the presentations, it is a great environment to run COVID safe induction training.”

Gareth Ruddock, chief executive of Giraffe said:

“Providing the lunches for the Thermo Fisher training helps Giraffe to provide free meals for the community, continue to support our young trainees and work closely with local business.”

Nick Williams, chief executive of Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre said:

“We’re delighted to be able to help Thermo Fisher Scientific as they expand their operations in their key role in the fight against the virus. Our We’re Good To Go certification is an endorsement of all the hard work that the team has put in to ensure our COVID-19 procedures are robust and effective, and we are delighted in the confidence that Thermo Fisher has shown in our measures. Working with Giraffe ensures that the Thermo Fisher team are well fed in our venue, and we are proud to support the work of this important local social enterprise. Our COVID-19 processes have also allowed us to host streamed performances by Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Scottish Ensemble, and, of course, rehearsals are now underway in Perth Theatre for our Live Broadcast online panto, Oh Yes We Are! It’s great that when we’re eventually allowed to welcome audiences back we’ll be good to go!”
