Members of Perthshire Photographic Society and Perth Film Society will host guided tours of contemporary art exhibitions in Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre’s Threshold artspace.

The new initiative came about following a research trip by Horsecross Arts creative director of contemporary art Iliyana Nedkova to V&A Museum London. She said:

“On my recent curatorial research trip to V&A Museum London I joined a guided tour led by one of their 750 volunteers. That prompted me to approach volunteers for our own guided tours at Threshold artspace. I am delighted that our long-term partners Perthshire Photographic Society and Perth Film Society have responded so enthusiastically and spread the news amongst their members. We have decided to start with our two current solo exhibitions at the artspace by two exceptionally talented artists Corey Arnold and Ross Hogg – their first solo shows in Scotland! Visitors can now have a guided tour on any day of their choice over coffee and croissant or over wine and olives led by members of these fantastic local organisations.”

Malcolm Lind of the Perthshire Photographic Society said:

“The Perthshire Photographic Society is delighted to work with Horsecross Arts to show this major exhibition of Corey Arnold’s work to as many visitors to the artspace as possible. The show is an excellent introduction to the perils and joys of fishing life worldwide, the subject of the major Perth Theatre production Lost at Sea. It is a privilege to conduct tours of this unique photographic insight into fishing.”

Jill Moody of Perth Film Society said:

“Perth Film Society has always tried to further an appreciation of film, and to support Perth’s fabulous local businesses, many of whom have become our much-loved long-term sponsors.

Over the years, we’ve also been proud to develop strong links with a wide range of community projects and causes and being so closely involved with these means a great deal to us. Thankfully, Iliyana must have liked what we did, because she thought of us when she curated the current solo exhibition of BAFTA award-winning short animated films by Scottish filmmaker Ross Hogg. The exhibition includes several truly amazing short films, one of which was commissioned by Horsecross Arts, acquired for Threshold artspace and premiered at Glasgow Short Film Festival last month. The films will all be on show until 27 June 2019 and Perth Film Society is thrilled to have been asked to help out with the guided tours that are on offer, including morning coffee and croissant or teatime wine and olives!”
