It’s all aboard the good ship Perth Theatre for this year’s family panto Sinbad!

And Perth’s favourite panto dame Barrie Hunter is living up to his character name Dame Jackie Alltrades as he not only stars in the show but is also writing and directing it!

He will be joined by Ewan Somers, who shared dame duties with Barrie in Snow White and the Seven Dames last year, as Sinbad’s brother Finn Lad.

Rehanna MacDonald makes her Perth Theatre debut as Sinbad, Helen Logan returns as evil stepmother Vindicta. Peter Collins plays Hector the tax collector and Rebekah Lumsden plays Greta, a young woman who will do anything she can to live in a good world with good people.

Pulling on his frock and heels for his 9th Perth Theatre panto, Barrie Hunter, who is widely acknowledged as one of Scotland’s top panto dames, said

"I can't wait to get started on this year's Perth panto, Sinbad - my first as writer, director and performer. We've put together a great team onstage and behind the scenes, and you can expect all the usual fun and frolics, songs and silliness, magic and mirth! We might even take you overseas and underground AND meet the local wildlife - what's not to love?!"

After her 7 long voyages, all Sinbad wants for Christmas is peace, a pal and a party in her hometown of Perthepolis.

It’s a bit cramped on the houseboat she shares with her bookish brother, Finn Lad, and her mother, the totally gorgeous but currently single (awwww!) Dame Jackie Alltrades - but their neighbours and friends, The Tayside Beavers, have just been given protected status, so that’s good news, right? It’s certainly made Greta, a young, nature-loving visitor very happy - which sadly can’t be said of her bitter and twisted stepmother Vindicta…

Are the Beavers in danger? Is Sinbad’s peaceful Christmas dead in the water? Or is this the start of an adventure which takes everyone across stormy waters to an island of mystery and intrigue? And what’s the story with Hector the Collector? Is it only your taxes he’s after, or is there more to him than meets the eye?

All these questions will (probably) be answered as Perth’s favourite dame Barrie Hunter and crew welcome all mateys aboard for high seas high jinks at the Perth Theatre panto!

Sinbad runs in Perth Theatre from Saturday 30 November until Saturday 4 January. For tickets and info for Sinbad click here or call Horsecross Arts Box Office on 01738 621031.
