Hebrides Ensemble, Scotland’s foremost chamber music group, will be streamed live across the world next month when they perform at Perth Concert Hall on 13 March 2017.

The live streaming of their lunchtime concert marks the Ensemble’s commitment to reaching audiences in remote and rural places across the country, as well as engaging music-lovers all over the world with high quality performances coming out of Scotland. This performance sees the Ensemble join forces with BBC Arts Digital who will be showing the concert on their dedicated arts site www.bbc.co.uk/arts. The audience in Perth will be joined virtually by audiences in Orkney, Skye, Mull and Kinlochbervie who will give their feedback on the streamed concert experience, leading to the development of future digital projects by the Ensemble and their partners at Horsecross Arts. Members of the public are also encouraged to tune-in to watch the concert live on www.hebridesensemble.com or to view at a later date as the concert will be available on-demand for the next 12 months.

Jennifer Martin, Chief Executive of Hebrides Ensemble said: “We see ourselves as an international Ensemble so it’s wonderful to be able to reach audiences wherever they are. We’re thrilled to be working with Horsecross Arts and BBC Arts Digital on this and hope that, by working in partnership, many more people will be able to experience the joy of live music and hear our fantastic musicians in action.”

Will Conway, Artistic Director and cellist for Hebrides Ensemble said: “As a musician, there’s nothing more exciting than connecting with an audience in a live performance. Knowing that people in the farthest reaches of Scotland, and indeed all over the world, will be watching makes this experience all the more rewarding.”

James Waters, Creative Director of Classical Music at Horsecross Arts said: We at Perth Concert Hall are committed to the widest possible reach for our music programme. Working in partnership with Hebrides Ensemble and BBC Arts Digital offers a thrilling opportunity to reach new audiences and share great performances.”

Exploring the diverse repertoire for clarinet, cello and piano of the twentieth century, East West will feature Kenneth Leighton’s reimagining of the American hymn tune At the River, Poulenc’s witty and melodic Trio, and the extraordinary soundworld of Isang Yun.
