Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre are giving local musicians the chance to perform on the Gig On A Truck stage when they relaunch their mobile pop-up stage this summer.

Electro, acoustic solo, duo or trio acts are being invited to get in touch with videos of them performing to be considered for paid 45 minute sets on the stage as it tours to a mixture of private and public locations as restrictions ease.

Gig On A Truck entertained around 120 residents and staff from care home car parks and gardens when it first took to the road in October 2020. During the current lockdown, several acts that were planning to take to the stage kept the music playing by sending videos to care homes.

Launching the call out to musicians, Lu Kemp, artistic director for Perth Theatre said:

“Artists and audiences are the lifeblood of our venues. While we cannot open those venues, its vital to find other ways to connect people. Gig on a Truck gives us the opportunity to bring local artists at all stages of their journeys as musicians together with audiences across Perthshire.”

Musicians and bands are invited to apply to take part by sending a video of themselves performing at least two pieces of music with spoken introductions. The deadline for applications is Sunday 2 May. Interested acts should contact Emma Neck, Creative Learning Co-ordinator (Music) eneck@horsecross.co.uk for full details on how to submit their entries.

Horsecross Arts is supported by Creative Scotland, Perth & Kinross Council and The Gannochy Trust. Gig On A Truck is funded by The Gannochy Trust.
