Once again the team behind Perth’s panto is searching the land for talented local youngsters to take to the stage in the festive family favourite

The creators of Beauty and the Beast which runs in Perth Concert Hall from Saturday 12 to Saturday 26 December are inviting applications to audition for the children’s cast.

From Monday 31 August, boys and girls aged 9 to 13 who love to sing, dance, act and perform can download an application pack from the Horsecross Arts website on www.horsecross.co.uk or from Horsecross Arts Box Office in Perth Concert Hall. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Saturday 12 September.

Successful applicants will be called for audition in Perth Concert Hall’s Norie-Miller Studio on Saturday 26 September.

Once again, Perth Concert Hall has stepped in to stage Perth’s traditional family pantomime while Perth Theatre undergoes restoration and redevelopment. Written by Alan McHugh, directed by Ian Grieve, Beauty and the Beast stars Perth regular dame Barrie Hunter and a host of local favourites.

After refusing to marry the evil Witch Queen, the arrogant Prince Sebastian has been cursed to live as a hideous beast unless he can find a maiden to fall in love with him. Not only that, the Prince’s castle and servants have also been cursed to remain in limbo until the curse is broken.

Our panto dame and her hapless son, along with their best friend, the beautiful Belle, arrive in the village on holiday with nowhere to stay. The Beast’s manservant thinks that Belle might just be the one to break the curse, and invites them to stay.

Join our evil witch, cursed prince, fairytale princess, dopey dame, her hapless son, and a castle full of enchanted prisoners to cheer the goodies and boo the baddies and discover if love will win the day. Throw in a startling set, classy costumes, dazzling dances, magnificent music, and laughs aplenty, and you have the perfect panto night out for all the family.
