Dear friends,

I can practically see our two amazing venues from my window as I work from home, and it upsets me every day to know they’re empty and closed.

I want to assure you that we’re doing everything we possibly can to plan for our reopening. But we will only reopen when we have the government go ahead - taking into account whatever public health guidelines are in place to keep everyone safe.

We’ve e-mailed a survey to a random sample of regular attenders and we’ll use their responses to help us plan for reopening. We want to talk to our audiences as much as we can while we’re closed to gather your thoughts on how we reopen, what you’ll feel comfortable with, and what we might improve on for the longer term. We’ll continue to send e-mails to samples from our database, so you may hear from us about this.

If it’s taking us a little longer than usual to contact you about a booking, I’d like to apologise. The Box Office team members are working from their living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms, and are doing a fantastic job in sometimes technically and personally challenging conditions to stay in touch with you and process credit notes, donations and refunds. We’ll get to you as quickly as we can. Thank you for bearing with us.

It’s clear now, more than ever, how embedded Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre are in the community around us. Everyone who comes through the doors of our venues makes them what they are. I’d like to thank the many people who have gone out of their way to send messages of friendship to the team. It means a lot that so many of you are thinking about us as we all live through these difficult times.

I’m determined that together we’ll weather this crisis so that you can, once again, fill our venues with noise, music, fun and laughter. I’ll keep you updated as our path to reopening becomes clearer.

Thank you for your continued understanding. If you’d like to find out more about how we’re engaging with our community through this challenging period and how you can help us be here for you when this is all over, please visit our Keep Going Together blog.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay kind.
