Twenty six artworks from Horsecross Arts permanent museum collection of contemporary art will be in the spotlight during Platform – the inaugural festival of contemporary Perthshire Creativity. The works, including seven brand new festival-inspired commissions and acquisitions of artists’ films and artists’ limited editions on paper by Jolanta Dolewska, Simon Fildes, Anne Gilchrist, Susan Mowatt and Maja Zećo will be showing at Perth Concert Hall’s Threshold artspace and off-site from Saturday 25 March until Saturday 1 April.

Free to visit and fun to experience Threshold artspace is open to the public from 10am to 6pm. All 26 works are accompanied by one-off, festival-specific artists’ and curator’s talks at Threshold artspace and off-site including exclusive festival editions of the popular Coffee, Croissant and Art guided tours at the artspace led by Iliyana Nedkova Horsecross Arts creative director of contemporary art, Perth Pioneer and co-curator of Platform festival.

Iliyana Nedkova said:“I am very proud to be playing my humble pioneering bit as Platform co-curator. Even if you are a privileged cultural industry insider it is impossible to know of all the new and upcoming artists and initiatives in our locale, which is one of the reasons we would like to share our curatorial discoveries and showcase more than just the key players at Platform. I am doubly pleased that during Platform we will shine a spotlight onto 26 out of the 150 artworks in the Horsecross Arts one-of-a-kind museum collection of contemporary art. These 26 works feature many international and Scottish artists with a strong sense of pride and belonging or contributing to Perthshire’s creativity such as the outstanding artists Claude Closky, Brian Hartley, Ergin Ćavusoglu, Su Grierson, Katrina McPherson, Dan Perjovschi, Lala Rašćić, Debra Salem and Theresa Pickles. Brace yourself for this week-long festival as a taster of what the UK City of Culture might bring your way for the entire 2021. Without showing any signs of watering down our bold remit in curating stunning and inspiring artworks at Threshold artspace, I am looking forward to Platform’s 5th anniversary in 2021 when the Horsecross Arts collection of contemporary art will turn 16 years old.”
