Pac-Man at Large (2014)
Limited edition print on aluminium
Inspired by the classic video game Pac-Man blending foreboding Scottish landscape with the iconic design of the 1980s game. The landscape belongs to the person who looks at it, said Ralph Waldo Emerson but judging from Pickles’ work, it belongs to those of us who can set free and immerse ourselves in the landscape as if it were a Pac-Man game. Pickles substitutes the classic labyrinth of the Pac-Man game with a bright red Pac-Dot as a reminder that our natural and man-built environment is increasingly ‘infected’ by the ubiquitous presence of digital media.
