Disability Friendly

Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre have been designed to be disability friendly. We have lifts to all levels, Induction Loops, FM Headsets, Infra-Red Enhanced Hearing System and staff who are happy to help.

Audio Description

A trained team describes the action on stage to visually impaired patrons in the audience through either FM or Infra-Red Headsets. Description will begin ten minutes prior to curtain up with scene setting and programme notes. Audio Description is available for certain performances only, please contact Box Office for dates and times.

Touch Tours

These are an innovative way for the visually impaired patron to have the full theatre experience. Those attending the Audio Described performance have the opportunity to feel sets and costumes and have all the aspects of the production and staging described to them. Available on same dates as Audio Described performances, contact Jen Hoy to book your place.

Audio Brochure

A talking version of our brochure is available. Please contact Jen Hoy or Box Office for a copy.

British Sign Language Interpretation

For some of our performances we offer British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreted performances. Please contact Box Office who can advise dates and times for these performances and best seats to view the interpreter.

Relaxed Performances

Relaxed performances are less formal and have a more supportive atmosphere allowing everyone to experience the joy of live performance. Everyone is welcome to attend, however customers with an autistic spectrum condition, sensory sensitivity, communication or learning disability may find these performances particularly beneficial. The relaxed performance is still the same show, but with some small changes including:

  • A more casual approach to noise in the auditorium
  • Customers are free to leave and re-enter the auditorium at any point
  • Lights in the auditorium remain on low throughout the show
  • Adapted sound and lighting
  • No pyrotechnics or strobe lighting will be used

Induction Loop and Infra-Red Enhanced Hearing

At Perth Concert Hall we have an Induction Loop in the Gannochy Auditorium which is in use for most performances; just turn your hearing aid to ‘t’ position. For those who do not have a hearing aid, we can offer Infra-Red headsets to allow user to hear enhanced sound from the stage.

At Perth Theatre we have FM Headsets which can be collected from either the Box Office on arrival or from a member of the FOH team. These headsets are used instead of a hearing aid to receive enhanced sound from stage.

Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs

All guide, hearing and assistance dogs are welcome in both our buildings.

Family Friendly

We have booster seats for the little ones (available for Stalls only seating in both venues); Both Glassrooms Café and Perth Theatre Café provide high chairs, bottle warming and we’re breast feeding friendly. There are baby changing facilities for men and women to use.
