Nick Williams joined Horsecross Arts as chief executive in December 2019. Since he joined the organisation, he has led on building a sustainable, resilient business model for the future of Perth’s two main cultural venues. He has steered Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre through the COVID-19 pandemic, securing emergency funding, and ensuring that the organisation remains active in the community whilst the venues are closed.
A producer and arts manager for over 20 years, Nick has extensive experience producing, presenting and touring new writing and international theatre. He has worked for The Coronet Theatre, Actors Touring Company, Paines Plough, Nutkhut, Hampstead Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as producing under his own name. He has held leadership roles in the Theatre Team of Arts Council England, working with a range of high-profile theatre organisations and Westminster City Council, supporting the arts to reach communities across the heart of London. Nick has also consulted for a range of theatre, music and dance organisations in the UK and Denmark.
When he’s not in back-to-back meetings or Zoom calls, Nick can be found gardening, cooking, trying to stop his rescue Rottweiler Cleo from chasing swans alongside the River Tay, and indulging in a vast array of international drama and comedy.
