One more exciting act to be announced soon!
24 Nov 2017
The Celtic Sessions present
This incredible double bill sees two genuinely world-class acts performing beautiful Gaelic songs and fiery fiddle tunes.
Julie Fowlis' exquisite voice, her interpretation of Scottish Gaelic culture and ability to bring folk music out of the past and into something contemporary, dynamic and irresistible, are what have made her a genuine and multi-award winning crossover star. Julie has a remarkable series of achievements to her name including a TV and radio presenting career, performing at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony and singing the theme song to Disney Pixar's worldwide smash animated film, Brave.
For all that, it's sometimes possible to forget that Julie is first and foremost an extraordinarily talented traditional musician - one of our very best in fact. She surrounds herself with equally gifted players to perfectly complement her superb vocals and realise her musical vision both in the studio and onstage.
'an exquisite, gently emotional set' The Guardian
'there are some voices that carry much more than a melody. They transport you to another place, give you goose flesh and make magic out of thin air. Julie Fowlis has just such a voice' Evening Standard
'an amazing night and the audience roared its appreciation' Bath Chronicle
Don't miss this rare chance to see Session A9 make a very welcome return to the scene of many previous triumphs. The finest of all our fiddle bands, Session A9 are Charlie McKerron, Adam Sutherland, Kevin Henderson, Gordon Gunn (fiddles), David 'Chimp' Robertson (percussion), Marc Clement (guitar) and Brian MacAlpine (keyboards) and are a genuinely thrilling live act.
'Session A9 are your men when it comes to pounding out a high-octane tune, but they are also wonderfully creative arrangers who make dynamic use of their line-up of four fabulous fiddlers' The Scotsman
'a richness of sound that can verge on the symphonic... from reflective to mesmerising to downright barnstorming' The Herald
'fiercely bright and energetic contemporary instrumental music, with a full heart and a head for invention' Songlines
