    Andy Fairweather Low makes a welcome return with his Hi Riders to lead a cast of singers from home and abroad in Rock ‘n’ Roll Music: The Songs of Chuck Berry at this year’s Southern Fried Festival of American roots music in Perth.

    The show on Thursday 27 July in Perth Concert Hall launches the tenth Southern Fried Festival which takes place in venues across Perth city centre until Sunday 30 July.

    Southern Fried Festival goers and passing music fans will be treated to another exciting selection of free music this year thanks to renewed sponsorship from local Hi-Fi, Home
    Automation and Audio-Visual supplier, John Ross Hi-Fi and Goldrush Records.

    The Charlotte Street store will sponsor the Southern Fried Festival’s free Acoustic Stage in Perth Concert Hall’s Norie-Miller Studio on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 July as well as Sunday’s Open Mic in The Venue.

    Some of Scotland’s finest musicians and singers including Justin Currie, Karine Polwart and James Grant will join up with Canadian artists to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canada’s foundation at Perth’s Southern Fried Festival.  

    The specially created show - North Star: Scotland Sings Canada - will close the festival which runs in Perth Concert Hall and other city centre venues from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 July.

    Perth’s Southern Fried Festival is looking for local singers to form the Southern Fried Voices choirs and perform at this year’s event alongside professional musicians and artists including Cyndi Cain, Stuart Nisbet and The First Ladies of Country.

    Nick Lowe, Loudon Wainwright III and Beth Nielsen Chapman headline the tenth Southern Fried Festival which will also feature Andy Fairweather Low & The Hi Riders and an all-star cast of singers in Rock ‘n’ Roll Music: The Songs of Chuck Berry, as well a celebration of Canadian artists.

    Named Scottish Event Awards Best Small Festival 2014, the Southern Fried Festival takes place in Perth Concert Hall and other city centre venues from Thursday 27 until Sunday 30 July.
