Perth Youth Theatre (PYT) is our thriving and inclusive theatre company for young people aged 12-25 with 150 members and a waiting list. Unique in Perthshire, and one of the most dynamic youth theatres in Scotland, we run weekly workshops for our core groups and stage six theatre productions annually.
PYT is highly regarded and one of Scotland's leading youth theatres, creating exciting work for and by young people and setting high artistic standards. We encourage young people to take ownership of their work and in a wider sense to take responsibility for their actions and their futures.
A young person-centred organisation we actively encourage input and decision making by the participants. PYT allows members to work with theatre specialists in a professional theatre environment and to perform in a variety of theatre venues from the bar to the studio to the main house.
PYT also has a training scheme for trainee Youth Theatre Director's which is unique in Scotland. We also run a playwriting group year round.
"Operating YT shows gave me experience in many different fields along with helping me to find ways of tackling difficult challenges relating to technical production. It also helped immeasurably with my application for the BA Hons course in Technical Theatre at RSAMD for which I have just been accepted"
We employ professional tutors, designers and directors to raise production values and to provide career development opportunities for young people in all aspects of theatre.
If you want the chance to get creative, perform and meet new friends then get in touch.

pyt goes international...
In summer 2009 we took 15 young people from PYT to the Festival of Shakespeare hosted by Theatre du Sycamore in France. The young people from both companies devised, rehearsed and performed versions of Othello. There will be a reciprocal visit to Scotland in 2010 by Theatre du Sycamore with both companies performing versions of Macbeth. This fantastic opportunity was made possible with funding support from The Lefevre Trust and Horsecross Arts Ltd.
