Our award winning Horsecross Arts Creative Learning team run music and drama activities at Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall and in schools and communities. In the past five years our Creative Learning team have gained an enviable reputation for placing community involvement at the heart of everything we do.
We can tailor projects to suit young people, adults, families, older people, people with disabilities... you! We work with schools and nurseries, youth and out-of school clubs, community centres, adult resource centres, festivals, colleges, universities, hospitals... the list is endless!

Gordon Duncan experience
The Gordon Duncan Experience is going national! To be part of this exciting new Celtic Big Band for young people age 14 - 18yrs, simply fill out the application form below and send back to us. We're looking for any instruments - from saxophones and trumpets to flutes and accordions, if you're passionate about music, we want you!
for schools
Our schools programme links in closely with our main stage productions. We offer schools drama and music workshops and discounted tickets to various productions. Details of these can be found on our blog on the LTS Glow Creativity Portal.
for young people 0 - 18 years
We run a variety of music and drama workshops for young people from all over Perth and Kinross, and beyond. Our 150 strong youth theatre is one of Scotland's busiest and the Gordon Duncan Experience - our new Celtic big band - is making waves in the Scottish Traditional music scene. Perth Youth TheatreMUSIC BOX WITH sT jOHNSTONE
Horsecross Arts and St Johnstone Football Club have joined forces to bring some exciting new music workshops for budding rock musicians ages 12 - 18yrs, funded by Creative Scotland. Held at McDiarmid Park, the workshops take place on Thursdays and are completely free. There's limited space though so make sure you sign up quick. for ADULTS 18 YEARS +
Here are some examples of projects we run that you can come along to:
- Horsecross Voices: Wednesdays, Perth Concert Hall
- a weekly non-performing drop-in community choir where singers of all levels are welcome. Music reading not necessary. Each session is based on a different genre of music. For more details contact Jenn (see below) - Horsecross Players: Tuesdays, Perth Theatre
- a weekly inclusive group that actively aims to include people from all backgrounds, including those with additional support needs and no experience of the theatre. Horsecross Players is fully involved in the life of the theatre with backstage tours, director's talks, attending productions, visits to other theatres, drama and stagecraft workshops. - monthly woodwind sessions for adults who would like the experience of playing in a relaxed group situation. Workshops available at two levels: mild (novice instrumentalists) and medium (intermediate instrumentalists). Brass and saxophones invited to attend the Band session.
