Want to star in panto? Oh yes you can!

Local youngsters with the ‘Xmas factor' are being offered the chance to take part in Perth Theatre's family pantomime, Aladdin.

Auditions for nine to sixteen year-olds to play villagers and chorus in the festive favourite are being held from 10am on Sunday 26 September in Perth Theatre Studio.

Some experience of dancing and singing is required as auditionees will be asked to learn a dance routine and perform it at the auditions as well as joining in a group song.

Bursting with songs, slapstick, silliness and audience participation, tickets are already on sale for Aladdin which runs from Friday 3 December until Saturday 8 January.

River City's Lorna Craig takes the title role with Bruce Fummey as Wishee Washee, Graham Crammond as Widow Twankey, Tom McGovern as Abanazar and Lesley Mackie as the Empress.

Director Ian Grieve said:

"Perth Theatre's Aladdin will be a traditional panto in the truest sense with all the crazy costumes, laughter, cheesy gags and fun you would expect.  I love the opportunity to get kids involved - it's great fun for them, adds a whole new dynamic into the show and certainly keeps the cast and crew on their toes!"

Auditionees must register before the day by contacting Sandra Grieve sgrieve@horsecross.co.uk for an application pack.  Packs can also be picked up at Horsecross Arts Box Office in Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre and online by clicking here.  Closing date for applications is 17 September.
