Old Geppetto is busy in his workshop, carving out the famous boy of wood who is set to entertain the whole family in Perth Theatre's magical musical adventure this Christmas.
So, Horsecross is drafting in chainsaw sculptor Peter Bowsher to create his own Pinocchio to welcome visitors to Perth Theatre in the run up to the festive season.
Peter's version of the loveable rascal will start life as a tree stump and gradually take shape over a period of five hours on Saturday 24 October. Peter will start work outside Perth Concert Hall then the finished sculpture will be taken over to Perth Theatre where it will greet theatre-goers until the Horsecross production of Pinocchio finishes in January. Pinocchio will then be given a good home in the gardens of Rachel House children's hospice in Kinross.
The all singing all dancing production of Pinocchio opens on Friday 4 December in Perth Theatre and runs until Saturday 2 January.
Based on the world-famous Carlo Collodi tale, written by Paul Boyd, Pinocchio is directed by Horsecross creative director, Ian Grieve.
All Pinocchio wants is to be a real boy, but before the Blue Fairy grants his wish, he will have to learn to be good, work hard and, most of all tell the truth - but the mischievous Mr Fox and Mr Cat have other plans!
Nominated ‘Best Show for Children and Young People' in the 2007 TMA Theatre Awards, family favourite Pinocchio features a host of charming characters, plenty of songs, music and laughter and that essential touch of Christmas magic.
