Mitsuko plays Paris, New York, Tokyo, Perth...

UK fans of world famous pianist, Mitsuko Uchida will have to head to Perth this September for the chance to see her perform in Britain this year.

Perth Concert Hall is the only UK venue on the award-winning performer's summer/autumn tour which sees her take to the stage in Paris, New York, Tokyo, Barcelona and other venues across the globe.

The recital of Beethoven's last three piano sonatas No. 30-32, Opus 109,110, and 111 on Monday 21 September is, in fact, the only UK date on the musician's schedule until May 2010.

Uchida, who chose the four year old Perth Concert Hall to make her first Scottish appearance in fifteen years when she last performed there in 2006, will launch an extensive series of Beethoven concerts at the venue.

Svend Brown, creative director (classical music) at Horsecross said of the exclusive appearance:

"This is a rare opportunity to see Mitsuko Uchida play outside of London or top European venues.  She is the perfect performer to launch ‘Beethoven - A Life in 8 Chapters', and we are thrilled to welcome her back to Perth."

‘Beethoven - A Life in 8 Chapters' will see Llyr Williams undertake to play the complete cycle of Beethoven's piano sonatas over the course of 2010.

Described by Chicago Tribune as "an elegant, deeply musical interpreter who strikes an inspired balance of head and heart in everything she plays", Uchida recently won BBC Music Magazine's award for ‘Instrumentalist of the Year' and ‘Disc of the Year' for her recording of Beethoven's Opus 101 and Opus 106.  Her latest recording, released this autumn, celebrates her close association with The Cleveland Orchestra as she directs them from the piano in two of Mozart's best-loved concertos No. 23, in A Major (K.488) and No. 24, in C minor (K.491).

For tickets for Mitsuko Uchida's performance in Perth Concert Hall on Monday 21 September, call the Horsecross Box Office on 01738 621 031 or click here.
