Horsecross rewards its own star performers

Horsecross has announced the winning line-up from its second annual Limelight Awards.

The Limelight Awards recognise staff at Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre who, according to their colleagues, have gone beyond the call of duty in carrying out their roles in the organisation.

Jane Spiers, chief executive of Horsecross which employs 150 at the two Fair City venues said:

"People are at the heart of this business and we have such a fantastic bunch at Horsecross.  The Limelight Awards celebrate individuals and teams who have given outstanding performances and give us the chance to say a big thank you to everyone at Horsecross for the work they do to ensure that Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre customers have the best possible experience.

"2008 was a great year for Horsecross with 137,000 paying visitors to Perth Concert Hall and Perth Theatre, 21,000 conference delegates and 8,500 people taking part in our community programme.  We welcomed the usual diverse range of acts and launched several programming firsts.  2009 is shaping up to be another exciting year and we will continue to do our best to amaze and impress!


Horsecross itself picked up a clutch of awards in 2008, including Venue of the Year at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards, a Chamber of Commerce Star Award for Contribution to Business Life and a Pulitzer Prize for Music to David Lang for a Horsecross commission with the Carnegie Hall in New York.  It also gained Investors in People recognition reinforcing its commitment to people development.

First past the post in the five Limelight Awards categories, which reflect the values of the business, were:

Make It Happen - Lee Hamilton (Box Office), Patrick Dalgety (Production), Sheilagh Dunk (Executive Planning).
Go the Extra Mile - Claire Wilcock (Marketing), Stuart Hutton (Catering), Lucy Paton (Finance)
Know your Role - Katarzyna Szostak (Catering), Jennifer Melville (Wardrobe), Steven McCormick (Venues)
Aim High - Patrick Murphy (Catering), Wendy Stenberg (Conference and Events), Pam Atan (Catering)
Work Together - Jenn Minchin, Jenny McGregor, Suzi Morrice, Annabel Rodger (Community Team), Jen Hoy and Phil Persoglio (Front of House), Elaine White (Planning and Resources).

The winners received prizes donated by local businesses including a limousine trip, meal vouchers and a range of pampering treats.
 
Prizes were donated by Gleneagles Hotel, Dunkeld Hilton, Ramada Jarvis Hotel, Symphony Hotels, Royal George Hotel, Toni & Guy, John Gillespie, The Cutting Room, Taylor Made Limos, The Thai at Roca Blu, Breizh, Paco's, Pretty Things, Bean Shop, Smart Good Food Shop, Marks & Spencer, Highland Safaris, Simply Nails, Salutation Hotel and Ruby Rose Crafts.
