Amateur Operatic Society heralds season of song in Perth

Carolling by Perth Amateur Operatic Society is one of a series of seasonal music events taking place in the Fair City in the run up to Christmas.

No less than ten musical acts - many with a firmly festive theme - will perform at Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall in December.

From the stirring harmonies of the Russian Patriarchate Choir of Moscow to the excitement of the Kings of Swing Big Band Christmas Special; from the thrill of A Classic West End Christmas to the energy of the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra and the rousing anthems of Runrig; Perth Concert Hall welcomes a feast of acts for a range of musical tastes.

Charity performances at Perth Concert Hall include the ChildLine Christmas Concert by Perth & Kinross school pupils, the Perth Choral Society performance of Handel's Messiah in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support, and the Perth Action of Churches Together Choir Carol Service with a local charity collection.

And, with the Snow Queen at Perth Theatre featuring an original score by Ross Ainslie and Alan Sutherland, and Session A9 leading the party at Perth Concert Hall's Hogmanay celebrations, the season of song will continue into the New Year and beyond.

Perth Amateur Operatic Society is performing at Redrooms, Perth Theatre on Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 December at 8pm.  For tickets for these performances, and for information on other December events, call Horsecross Box Office on 01738 621 031 or visit http://wwww.horsecross.co.uk
