Horsecross, the organisation that runs Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall, is on the look out for new board members.
Chairman Iain M Halliday, Arts & Business Chair of the Year finalist, is excited at the prospect of new blood. Horsecross is the young, dynamic organisation that has grown out of Perth Theatre,
said Iain. We have already made a great impact both locally and nationally and need dynamic people to help drive the organisation to continue to create a buzz about our venues and about Perth and Kinross.
There are nine directors on the board; three councillors who are nominated by Perth & Kinross Council, a major funder of the organisation, and six others who are invited to join because of their skills, expertise and experience. Outgoing director, Carol McGregor having served the standard term on the board said: I have found it tremendously interesting to see just how an arts organisation ticks and what challenges it faces. Horsecross is unique in Scotland. It has evolved from regional repertory theatre into a multi-million pound business. It has gone from theatre programming to providing a wide range of cultural and community events from drama to concerts to new media exhibitions. All this and it’s delivering UK wide conference business to Perth. It's quite a feat!
The role of the board of directors is to provide leadership, direction and support to the organisation. It is a decision-making group that meets up to six times a year to deliberate over key issues for the organisation: planning and programming, fundraising and budgeting, policy and resources, setting targets and reviewing performance.
